What you need to know about Tryouts:

  • The NPYBA would like to remind all families of the new bat regulations taking effect for the 2018.  All bats for 9U-14U must have the USA Baseball stamp, unless using a -3 BBCOR certified or wood bat.  During tryouts, players are required to use bats that meet the new regulations.  If you do not have access to a bat that complies with this rule, the NPYBA will have a small selection of bats available for use during tryouts that meet these standards.  For more information on the new bat regulations refer to our Bat Regulations page.
  • Tryouts are closed to parents. With your players best interest in mind, we want to create the most relaxed atmosphere as possible.
  • We request parents to assist their son with uniform fitting.
  • Only evaluators, association coaches and volunteers helping with the tryout/placement process will be allowed in the gym.
  • Players are evaluated in three areas by numerical value 1-10: throwing/pitching, fielding, and hitting/bunting.  NPYBA Tryout, Evaluation, and Placement Process
  • Players will be divided into groups and will rotate through each evaluation station.
  • Players will need their own glove, wind/sweat/baseball pants, helmet, and gym shoes.
  • Players may use their own bats during the hitting evaluation if they meet the proper specifications for that players age level.
  • Players should not wear any clothing including baseball caps with their name on it.
